immediately following the 'restart' after installing the
trial copy of visio 2003 my computer failed to reboot.
Using the CD for windows 2000, as per the error message,
and changing the boot order in the bios so it boots the
cd, I have basically 2 choices: select R for attempt to
repair or the other selection which says to reload
windows 2000. BOTH selections come back and say I do not
have any disk drives.
whatever happened made it look like I have no disk
drives. I have no recovery disk, although I suspect that
even if I did it wouldn't work anyway.
Is it possible that the restart of the machine enabled a
virus that makes the system appear as though there are no
drives present?
I brought the PC into Best Buy and they had some sort of
utility that actually saw the drives and said they were
working, although most of the utilities they tried never
found the drives.
totally screwed in minnesota.
Since I can't get at my passwords I'm basically blind
here and MS requires your .net password before they'll
respond. any help would be appreciated greatly.

One thing comes to mind, Boot up in safe mode and then See if anything shows
in Device manager, You may need to reload some Drivers
