I am adding to my previous post about the brief blue
screen. I messed around a bit and got a message stating
that windows couldn't load due to missing or corrupt:
Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.

What does this mean? Is there a way to reload the missing
file and not lose my data?

Again I am running windows xp on Toshiba laptop (satellite
1415 104s).

Help if you can,please.
Thanks,
Linda

If you have the windows XP CD, you can reload the file by repairing the
installation. There is a way of getting the file from the cd and back to
your compueter withour doing a repair but it is too difficult. So just run
the installation from your CD and when prompted, choose to repair an
existing windows installation.
