Missing or corrupt system 32 file

I have an error message when trying to boot that states the following file is missing or corrupt: Windows/system 32/config/system

I have tried the Recovery process to no avail. I have gone to the Microsoft site and have tried the steps to recover this file but I get another error message after hitting Enter following each line of the steps which says: Access is denied

How do I get this "Access"? So that I can go through the recovery steps.

I would try to boot from your original Windows CD and have it try to "repair" your OS.
