Gary

I have a template PP show, which I use to show business
card designs on.

I open the template, and insert the new Graphic and group
it with a frame. The Graphic file is in JPG format and is
usually no more than 80kb. Then apply a tansition.

Quite often after saving the show as a 'show' when it is
run, the graphic does not appear, and some of the
transitions leading up to the inserted graphic animation
just 'appear' rather than sliding (etc).

Sometimes I have noticed that a few of the other items on
the page are not shown too. These tend to be the graphic
before the new inserted graphic.

I hope this is clear enough!

Anyone have any ideas???

I still send the files out to customers, and have not had
anyone say that there is anything wrong with the shows, so
I assume that the problem is with my machine.

Thanks - Gary

Gary,

Things not appearing, even though they are really there may be video driver
related. Please have a look at this and let us know if you resolve it.

First, you should make sure you have the latest version of DirectX. That
may not help your current problem, but it is a wise security move. WARNING:
If you have Windows 2000, you MUST have all Service Patches for Win2K in
place before doing this (Courtesy of Austin Myers).

Second, you should try adjusting hardware acceleration:

Third, update your video drivers. They are the interface between you program
and what you see:

Also, try the general troubleshooting material:

"Don't use PowerPoint for anything serious until you've done this":
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm

Again, if that doesn't solve the problem, at least you have narrowed down
the possibilities Please get back to us so we can progress further.

Hi Glen,
Thanks for your reply. All my drivers are up to date. So I
tried dropping the hardware acceleration as you suggested,
and so far it seems to be working!

Actually, everything 2D seems to be running fast,
including hard disc activity. This may be a silly question
but was does "Hardware Acceleration" actually do?

Thanks again
Gary

Gary,

From what I can figure out, it allows your hardware to take advantage of
Direct X, allowing PowerPoint to draw and show things at better resolution
with technology called Direct Draw. I use it to manipulate images in
PowerPoint and it works well. In other words, it works lousy without it. But
it is often the very things that mucks up. I'm glad you got it sorted!
