Hello,

I installed Service Pack 4 from a CD. THe install was
okay, on the reboot I got blue screen with the message
"Missing ntoskrnl.exe" and the memory was dumped.
I had similar experience with SP3. Both times I was able
to remove the SP in safe mode, and I am back to SP2.

Any idea what is the problem/solutiion to this?

Thanks
Mohammad

1) Update your BIOS to the very latest.
2) If you have a fancy controller (like a Promise), then
update the drivers to the very latest.
3) Go to WindowsUpdate and see if there are any hardware
updates available.
4) Delete all your temp files
5) Go to Start, Run and type cmd. Hit Enter.
At the command prompt, type
CHKDSK /R
Hit Enter.
It'll say the drive is locked, would you like to run it
next time you boot? Type Y.
Reboot and let the process run.
6) If you encrypted files/folders, decrypt them long
enough to upgrade the Service Pack.
7) If you have Roxio 5, update it to the very latest
patches. Easy CD Creator should be patched to 5.3.5.10.
If Windows Update offers any patches for your version of
MediaPlayer, patch it. There have been issues with both
Roxio and MediaPlayer and the Roxio plugins for
MediaPlayer that can lead to a blue screen after SP.

Then try SP4. I'll bet something on this list will fix
you.
