Missing Network Icon

My network icon keeps disappearing from the system tray. When I go to the
Notification tab in the Taskbar, it's grayed out. When I reboot, it returns
but it disappears again after awhile. My network works fine during the
periods when it's gone.
 
Have you checked in properties of the start menu to see if the network icon
has been unchecked?
