THIS IS A STRANGE ONE ! ALL RUNNING WELL UNTILL A MICROSOFT UPDATE,
INSTALLED THE UPDATE AND PUT THE COMPUTER TO SLEEP, WENT TO WORK, WHEN I GOT
HOME, THE SCREEN WAS BLACK AND WOULD NOT COME ON. I HIT THE POWER BUTTON AND
REBOOTED IT. THE INTERNET CONNECTION WAS NOT THERE. I HAVE AN ETHERNET
BUILT IN CARD. AND I KNOW MY INTERNET IS WORKING BECAUSE I HAVE ANOTHER
COMPUTER WITH A WIRELESS CONNECTION IN ANOTHER ROOM AND ITS SENDING THIS!
WHEN I GO INTO THE DEVICE MANAGER THE NETWORK ADAPTERS ARE NOT THERE?? ANY
TROUBLE SHOOTING SAYS I HAVE NO ADAPTERS INTALLED AND CONFIGURED. IF MY
CARD WAS BAD MY NETWORK ADAPTERS WOULD STILL BE THERE WOULDN'T THEY. ANY
IDEA'S

STOP SCREAMING!!!!
Please do this again except please type in mixed case letters, your
message is VERY hard to read.
thanks

So you are going to reinstall Windows instead of just fixing the sound
card driver issue?

I tried fixing the sound drivers... they don't want to work anymore...

Did you delete them entirely? Or even remove the sound card from
device manager and then refeshing so it finds it again? I just think
reinstalling Vista is a bit drastic. Personally I would physically
remove the sound card, then reinstall it if it came to that. If it is
mb based I would disable it in the BIOS then after booting into
Windows, restart and go into the BIOS and re-enable it and see if
Vista finds it. Of course at some point I would give up and either do
what you said you are going to do or get a new external sound card.
The problem with reinstalling Vista is that alot of your already
installed programs just won't work anymore. A 'repair' MAY work, that
is what you siad you are going to try. But it may not work too.

My wireless LinkSys card stopped working too, I had to do some playing
with the settings and finally just told it to fix it itself. It now
works fine again.
