Hi everyone,

I'd like to move some of my personal folders. The article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;221837 told me how
to do it, however, the buttons it mentions in the Properties of the My
Documents folder ('Move' and 'Restore Default' buttons as well as 'Target'
box) are all missing.
The article also mentions something about group policy folder redirection,
but since the folder is exactly where Windows would put it, I guess that's
not it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Robert

NOTE: Sometimes, you don't see the three options namely, 'Restore Default', 'Move', and 'Find Target'. This is due to the presence of "DisablePersonalDirChange" value in the following Registry path:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Hmmm...makes sense, but I don't have such a registry value...anywhere.

The 'Target' tab and its controls only show when you right-click on the 'My Documents' shortcut on the desktop or start menu. It's not displayed in the properties dialog when you select it by right-clicking the username's documents folder under My Computer or by right-clicking the actual folder in the userprofile directory. Maybe that's why you're not seeing it???

Yep, that's it!

Thanks

Good one, Keith. If you right click on the "My Documents" in the tree view
of Explorer - the one right below Desktop (outside of the disk hierarchy),
it will also show the Move button.
