I've just embarked on a mission to find out what's going on with
Administrative rights in XP, because of a problem I’ve been involved in with
another User Group.
Going into Start > Control Panel (Classic View) > Administrative Tools >
Computer Management > System Tools, we should see:
Event Viewer
Shared Folders
Local Users and Groups
Performance Logs and Alerts
Device Manager
However, several of us have found that the Local Users and Groups folder is
missing, which raises three questions in my mind.
1. Why should this be?
2. Can we / should we do anything to remedy the deficiency?
3. Could this affect the way the “Owner†is recorded in the Registry,
against a new program that is installed, and hence affect Permissions?
