Missing Local Disk Drive

SATARaid drives 0 and 1 are shown during POST, but only drive 0 appears in
XP. In XP, the local disk drives should be C:\, D:\, and G:\. I have 2
hard drives connected on the SATA slot and one on IDE. Go easy on me, I
know nothing about RAID. Thanks for your help.

Are these two drives configured in a RAID array? RAID0 or
RAID1 or just single drive stripes or spans? JBOD?

If the two are members of an array, they're not meant to
show up separately in XP.

What's the history of the system? Were both drives
formatted? Where does "in XP" mean exactly? Does the
missing drive (if not a member of a multi-drive array as
mentioned above) show up in Disk Management?

If all else fails, find the appropriate RAID Manager
software for your (motherboard or add-on RAID card,
whichever provides this RAID feature), and see what it
reports as the connected drives.

I did not configure the drives. I have no knowledge of using RAID.

The drives are listed during POST as

0 Model # 152627MB

1 Model # 152627MB

Before I reinstalled XP, in My Computer, only one drive was shown, but with
the volume of both drives. 2 drives, 160 GB each appeared as one drive with
at least 293 GB.

Don't know is both drives were formatted. I meant in My Computer. Before
reinstalling XP, I can't say about how the drives appeared in Disk
Management, I didn't think to look. Now only one drive appears in both
explorer and Disk Management.

Please help as I am clue less.

How big is the one drive that appears in explorer? If it is the size of your
2 160GB drives added together, then all is working properly. Perhaps not how
you want it to work, but the 2 drives are working together in a RAID array.
Suggest you google for RAID and check out the various options. Read about
RAID 0 and RAID 1.

The drive that appears in explorer is 149 gb,

Could be RAID 1... One disk has data, the second is a mirror copy. It's a
decent way to backup against drive failure, but doesn't help much when it
comes to virii.

Using the BIOS RAID Utility, I am trying to create RAID Set. The message I
get is Set 0 PM Invalid RAID drive. I low level formated drive. What now.

Please don't top-post. The result is incoherance. Your reply
