missing library file

Currently a windows Xp home edition user with prior
windows 98 experience of the same symptom involving the
same file. After installing some palm handheld software I
get desktop error message of missing "mscoree.dll" file?
Can anyone enlighten me about this file/issue?

mscoree.dll is part of the dotNet Framework. Any application that you
install that requires it should check your system to see if it's there and
if not, it should install the dotNet runtime. Looks like your application
didn't do that.

If you go to Windows Update, the dotNet runtime should be available for
install. Otherwise, look around http://www.microsoft.com/downloads for it.
