Greetings All:
Has anyone noticed that a majority of the updates released today by
Microsoft refer to Knowledge Base articles that don't exist???
I tried looking up several of the articles refered to by KB number via SUS
services on a domain, as well as via Automatic Updates on local WIndows 2000
Systems. I tried looking them up at various times of the day too. SOme of
the articles I tried to reference included:
883939
893066
896422
890046
896358
Usually, I like to review the technical details before I deploy patches even
on test stations, usually to determine the potential impact and criticality
before I allocate resources to address the vulnerability. But the fact that
I am unable to find referenced Knowledge Base articles has left me concerned
about the legitimacy of the updates I have received.
Anyone know what is up? Are the KB servers not quite up-to-date yet? By
some oversight, did internal only KB #'s get released in the update details?
How can I find the technical information and corresponding bulletins for
these patches?
If anyone who knows what is up with this would please provide some
explanation, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
