Missing IE icons

Since I got a new computer all icons for IE are now the "general" one instead
of the blue e. This means that all html files on my desktop has the ugly icon
that looks like a little paper with a red and a green (?) dot on. Also, in
programs like Adobe GoLive, where I work with html-files, I only have the
ugly incons. My eyes can't "see" them and it irritates me. I have tried "open
always with" IE on both html and htm files, and also to create a shortcut of
a html-file and then change icon on that. Worked for that file but not for
the rest. I had this problem the last couple of months on my old computer
too, and it was so irritating I had to switch to another browser as default
just to get rid of the generic icons. Does anybody know why it is like this
and what I could do to fix it?

See and follow here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/htmicon.htm
"Incorrect or generic Windows icon displayed for HTM and HTML files".

Thank you very much, the vbs-file fixed it. Any idea of the reason this
happens?

YW. Glad to help and thanks for the feedback, Lena.

Perhaps some offending (cosmetic?) third party program for IE/Windows, or
some poor software/plug-in, maybe.

Cheers,
