WindowsXP Pro SP3 Office 2003 Word SP3 IE 6.0
I have noticed that the Internet Explorer icon does now, not show in the
System tray.
How do I get it back?

Are you referring to the Notification Area (AKA systray), to the immediate
left of the clock?

Thanks for answering Robert,
Yes.
The one where the time is displayed, bottom right of screen.
I tried to find out how to restore this icon by going to, Start/Help and
Support, but all I could find referred to Windows 98.
ie.
1. Open the Dial-up Networking folder. In Windows 98, you can access this
folder from My
Computer on the desktop. In Windows Millennium Edition (Me), you can access
the Dial-up Networkin
folder from Control Panel.
2. On the Connections menu, click Settings.
3. Click to select the Show an icon on the taskbar after connected check box.
4. Click OK to close the Dial-up Networking Settings window.
To disable the Dial-up Networking Connection icon in the system tray, use
the steps in this section,
but click to clear the Show an icon on the taskbar after connected check box
that is mentioned in step 3.

Another question I submitted before, but got no response to was,
re Read and Rate this response in the Notify email I received.

When I clicked on 'Read and rate the response; it takes me to this address
http://www.microsoft.com:80/wn3/asp...es/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft
public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser%26mid%3dd6dc3e87-7ad7-4697-a4a0-b01f5d0dae8a

this page is a blank page with 'Done' in lower left of screen

An IE icon has never been found or placed in Notification Area (systray) in
any Windows version. Are you perhaps referring to a Network Connection icon
(looks like a TV screen or perhaps 2 TV screens if using dial-up)?

Links found in "Read and rate..." notification emails haven't worked
properly for many users since January, so the problem's not on your end.

Robert,
Sorry, it is the 'Network Connection icon' is the one I'm reffering to.
Thanks for the reply re Read and rate..."
I thought my computer may have been at fault.

Start | Settings | Network Connections | Right-click on the connection type
(e.g., Local Area Connection) | Properties | Show icon in Notification Area
when connected (check).

Thanks Robert,
Worked fine.
I have no idea how ‘Show icon in Notification Area ‘ became unchecked.

Thanks Vincenzo,
Isn't it a Newsgroup what I am going to when I reply to these messages?
Years ago, I used to ask questions in what I thiught were newsgroups, via
Outlook Express/ Accounts and selected 'News'.
I stopped doing this because I was getting too much junk mail.

Thanks for enlightning me Robear.
I thought it was more sociiable to use Robert.

Thanks for the info.
I don't want to setup Outlook Express to access Microsoft newsgroups:
I'm happy with what I'm doing, and at, do not want to take it on.
(newsgroups)
As far as controlling junk mail, I am using MailWasher and I've only had
around 4 junk mails this year.
MailWasher also filters the junk well and it also gives a preview of the
message before I open it.
eg. When I get a reply, and it is from this forum, I can copy the web
address before I open it. I do this as sometimes 'Read the Response' fails,
if it does, then I can paste the web address.
I'll have another look at 'Rules of Conduct'

This is getting out of hand and a bit too hard to follow for an 80 year old
So I would like to end it
As I said before I'm happy with what I'm doing without using 'newsgroups'
