Missing Floppy Drive

After upgrading to Vista from XP Pro, my floppy drive disappeared. I upgraded
the bios and made sure it was enabled in the bios. I reseated the cable and
power cable. The floppy showed up one time in device manager after I entered
a script to show "hidden devices". It does not now show up in device manager
or in (my) computer. The power light to the floppy will come on as the system
restarts and I was able to flash the bios by using a floppy prepared on
another pc. So..... if the floppy was able to boot to a floppy and flash the
bios, it obviously works. How do I get windows to recognize it?

Solved the problem; as a last resort, attempted to reinstall vista; the
reinstall aborted while I was out of the room, but apparently it solved the
floppy problem. After windows aborted the reinstall and presented me with the
original installation desktop, the floppy to my amazement was now present in
device manager and functioning. I'll never know what happened, but at least
it's back.

Ha, Are we having fun yet? People will laugh and say that's what we get for
using such a new OS but previous versions of windows has problems just as
baffling. I love/hate Windows!
