Missing files!!!

I recently purchased a new computer from a private vendar
at a computer show. The computer came with Windows xp
professional installed. Unfortualy, however, alot of the
files needed to run windows correctly are missing (help
files, compatibility wizard, games, etc.) and the people I
purchased the computer from are offering no help or
support. How can I replace these files? What can I do?

Did it come with a startup disc?If it did put it in and
select repair option.If it didn't,you prob. got a bootleg
copy of it and should threaten them with calling the
police,BBB,and the atterny general of your state.It's
illegal for them to sell it to you like that!All
though,they'll just go into biz under a new name,and
you'll never see them or your money
again.......remember,you get what you pay 4.
 
Yup. Another naive user who's discovering that her 'bargain' will turn out
to be more expensive than she thought. Blame the sellers for taking
advantage of her.

Well, what would you do if you had to reinstal Windows for some other
reason? If you don't own title to the disks, you don't have any claim for
the installed software. Sounds entirely rational to me. (But if they told
you otherwise--say, advised you that you didn't need the disks, and you
relied on their professional knowledge, you have a claim for fraud--that
might be worth a lot more than a Windows disk--provided the vendor is a
large establishment.)

Or maybe they sold the disk to a different customer--two sales for one
product. It wouldn't be bootlegging, but it would be fraud. It is probably
one or the other--but then, we're hearing one side of the story. For all
we know, the included the disk and the customer unknowingly tossed it.
