I was watching a video on MLB.com and my PC shut down in the middle of it (have watched plenty of videos from there before with no issue) my PC shut down. When I turned it on again, I had the following message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system.
Someone please tell me how this can be fixed without the original setup disk. The disk is in NY and I am not for another week and I need this computer for work

Await your advice.

Is there a friend close by that can loan you an XP disk?
If not, then you can't fix your system.

Thanks for the help guys but I did a search for this error and found there are a lot of other people who have been having this same issue and there is a hotfix you can download for it. I'll just get a coworker to download it for me so I can fix my system.
