George

I am getting missing file system32.exe on startup. Problem
began in last three days. I cant find file even on Win2k
source disk. Any ideas?

Google lists more than 2700 hits for system32.exe. All of
them say it's a virus. Your virus scanner probably quarantined
the file after it infected your system. Check the home page
of your virus scanner, then follow the instructions to remove
the virus.

If you don't have a virus scanner, do this:

- Get onto www.antivirus.com and scan your system.
- Install a virus scanner now.

Hi George,

Here ya go...
http://security.symantec.com/default.asp?productid=symhome&langid=ie&venid=sym

Run the online Security check and choose to run the antivirus
Be careful to find out what you have and use Google to find out what you need to
do to get rid of it. They are tricky now, so do everything in the exact order
Symantec says or it may pop right back up.

Greetings --

You really don't want to get that file back. It's part of several
well-known viruses/worms. It is *not* a valid Windows file. Pay
particular attention to _all_ of the removal instructions:

W32.Kwbot.C.Worm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.kwbot.c.worm.html

Additionally, MS-MVP Doug Knox has kindly scripted a tool that
should help:
