I brought my computer in to have the motherboard replaced
(under warranty) and the technician had to do a system
restore on my hard drive because of some problem with the
motherboard...Now, when I plug in my printer, the Found
New Hardware icon bubble pops up, and then I get the
error message "The file HPFDJ50.INI on the Windows XP CD-
ROM is needed. Type the path where the file is located
and then click OK. Copy files from (the following
response is supplied by the computer) c:\i386\i386"

When I click "OK" to that, the computer beeps indicating
that the file isn't existent...So i hit cancel and *then*
i get the message "A problem occured during hardware
installation. It may not function correctly" and am
unable to print....Please help, I'm trying to work on my
thesis and my computer is crazy!!

Thanks!!

Do a file search for HPFDJ50.ini and find out where the file actually is
located on your PC.

When the message reappears, point it at the correct directory.
