I miss the fields Key type (hex or ascii) and field
length when i configure the wep key.

I have seen in other XP screenshots, that these fields
are available but I dont have them??

Danish XP professional service pack 1, and up to date on
windows update, I even tried to install the WPA optin but
it did not help.

regards

sounds like you have SP1/SP1a. The key length determine the encryption
strength. MS wanted to simplify it and "just make it work" in SP1

1 ASCII Character=8 Bits

1 HEX Character=4 Bits

40 or 64 bit ASCII WEP code has 5 characters

40 or 64 bit HEX WEP code has 10 characters

104 or 128 bit ASCII WEP code has 13 characters

104 or 128 bit HEX WEP code has 26 characters

After the wireless card is "hot", you should see a "network" icon in the
tray. Double click on the icon. Click on Properties. Click on
"Wireless Networks". Highlight the icon that relates to your access
point, then click "configure".

Well, actually I see that my answer did not answer your question. That
location was just for putting in a "key". Hmmm. I know nothing ...
