missing ext. drive

I'm using XP pro with all the updates. I have an external
Firewire drive plugged in. Device manager sees it
and "its working properly". However, I doesn't show up in
My Computer. Other external devices, zip, compact flash
memory- show up just fine. Just not the Firewire HD.

What to do?

Try to change the drive letter of the missing device, I am
sure it is set by default on "F" and this is still used by
an other unit, right?
