missing emails from pst

Hi,
I had some severe hanging issue with xp, so i decided to format the comp. I
saved everything from outlook 2007 using file->import\export->pst file,
although outlook too hanged severly. I assume everything in outlook must
have been saved (after importing i see contacts, calender, emails). The
problem is that there are no emails for the year 2009 after I imported the
pst file. I have alredy formated the comp, so i am totally confused now.
I tried scanpst, and there is this log file that reads many lines, but
really no idea of what it reads.

Any ideas regarding where the emails are and how to get them back?

Exporting a pst file to a pst file is one way of losing data. You didn't
need to do it. There's probably no way of getting the data back unless you
have a backup.

There is out-dated information on some of these pages, specifically with
regard to Outlook 2003 and 2007.

The main points to note:
1. Do NOT use the import/export function to move Outlook data from one
version to another - all you need to do is to copy the pst file, with
Outlook closed.

2. Do NOT paste the copied pst file into the default location - paste into
(for example) your Documents folder and then do File-Open-Outlook Data File
within Outlook.
 
In addition to what Gordon said, in case you're wondering about the
import/export feature - it's intended for those Outlook clients who connect
to an Exchange server for their mail. Exchange is Microsoft's brand e-mail
server that's used mostly in business & universities. For people who use
POP3, etc. to pull their mail this feature is not ideal for their situation.

Or for exporting to a different format - CSV or xls for example....
