I'm rebuilding an A-bit KR7A system. Everything seems to work except
the audio output. Device manager shows a yellow Other devices,
Multimedia Audio Controller with "?" symbols. I've tried using the
A-bit disk and various directories on the hard disk, and the Internet
update. No luck.
Suggestions? TIA.

You should try various directories on the driver CD, not on
the hard disk. If this does not work then you should run aida32.exe
(http://www.aumha.org/freeware/freeware.php#aida32)
to find out what sound card you use, then get a suitable driver
from www.driverguide.com.

Built-in or card?

Abit's site was unhelpful as they didn't have audio drivers listed for
this Motherboard.

It's a Via chipset, which would suggest that if the audio is built in
it's a via ac'97. Which is available at www.viaarena.com. If not, try
the realtek ac'97.

I suggest a system information tool such as Aida32, or it's successor
Everest. I've heard belarc advisor is good, but i've not used it
myself.
