Missing Download Prompt.

When I download files from websites, no download prompt
comes up, instead a little icon in the bottom left of the
status bar appears, and that is it until the file is
downloaded, is there a way can fix this.

Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to the file type in question and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Check the box for "Confirm open after download".
