my understanding from following papjohn's directions as far as Dependency
Walker analysis is that I have trouble with reinstalling MM2 because 2 dll
files are not found.
these are DWMAP.DLL
and EFSADU.DLL

is it possible that I can receive a copy of these files from someone and
place them correctly, and then all will be well?

thanks in advance for help

For info, I checked my MCE edition of XP for those files...

It doesn't have a DWMAP.DLL file. The closest I get is a couple files
dwmapi.h and dwmapi.lib in a c:\Program Fles\Microsoft
SDKs\Windows\v6.0\Include and Lib folders that were installed as part of the
Office Ultimate 2007 package.

It has EFSADU.DLL in the system32 folder.... a 27 KB file dated Aug 9
2004... file version 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

I'm afraid I don't follow- what I would like to know is how can I reinstall
Moviemaker?

as a matter of interest, I have been able to open it by copying the file
from my work comp onto a memory stick and then running moviemaker via the
memory stick inserted into a port on my home comp, however the picture
quality looks different. Haven't had the time yet to experiment more with
this system!

Scroll down for info...maybe some of it will be useful:

Reinstalling WinXP SP2 should reinstall Movie Maker 2.1.

Download Windows XP SP2

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

The following steps previously offered by
Carlos, MCSE are supposed to reinstall
MM2.1.

(you'll need your Windows XP Disk)

1. Go to C:\Windows\inf
2. Right click on Moviemk.inf and click on Install
3. When it asks for your Windows XP cd put
it in and browse to the I386 folder. Click OK

What can I do if I upgrade to Windows

is not installed successfully?
