Confused & Frustrated

My one computer (desktop) is missing a file. Is there a way to send the file
from my laptop - same OS?

We'll need a lot more information than that to help you.

What is the name of the file that is missing?

What versions of Windows (including the service pack) does each computer
have?

What is the complete text of the error message?

Under what specific circumstances do you see the error message?

the name of the missing file is:shdocvw.dll.
Each of the computers has XP Home, SP3
I don't remember the error message; it was when I re-formatted the desktop.

Okay confused you got us confused too!
Tell us exactly what you are doing when this error message popped up and
what made you reformat in the first place?

In mean time, yes you can install it/export it from the other machine.

What file? How do you know it's missing?

You can copy or move any file from one computer to another very
easily, in a number of different ways. But whether that's good to do
or not depends on the answers to the questions above.

How to copy the file? Here are several ways:

1. You can copy a file over the network if they are networked
together.

2. E-mail it from one computer to the other.

Copy the file to a CD, diskette, thumb drive, etc. and read it on the
other computer.
