Hello,
When i open up the My Computer window on my xp pro, it does not show my
second hard disk drive, (it is used just for storage). It is attached to the
sata on my asus p4p800-e delux motherboard. I have service pack 3 installed.
In disk management it shows up as healthy and active, however when I
right-click it only allows me to delete partition which I am considering but
I do not want to lose the files already on the drive.
What can I do?
I appreciate any assistance offered.

First, re-install the SATA drivers for the Asus motherboard. On the
re-boot, if unable to assign a drive letter to the SATA drive, the
remaining alternative to salvage the data is to remove it from the
computer, put it into an USB external drive enclosure for SATA hard
drives and try to get the drive recognized and usable. Using the USB
port of a different computer might also be needed if no drive letter
is assigned even to the HD in the external enclosure.

BTW, it always pays to keep at least 2 copies of files...just for
situations like this.

Can you not click Properties? Is Delete Partition the only option there, or is
it the only one that’s not disabled?
