Hello,

One of our pcs does not have a desktop tab in the display
control panel.

It's the same even when logged in as admin.

I've checked the Turn On Classic Shell setting in the
group policy editor and it isn't configured.

Does anyone know of any other way the desktop tab might
have been disabled?

Cheers.

No, it does not restrict the Control Panel. Have you tried it?

Thanks, but thats not quite it.

The Remove display in control panel policy locks the user
out of the control panel completely.

Another policy there, Prevent changing wallpaper still
shows the desktop tab but grays out all options.

The problem I have is that the desktop tab has completely
disappeared from the diplay control panel.

There is also a 3rd option that could be at fault which
is "Turn on Classic Shell" but again it's not configured
on this machine.

I've filtered the group policies so they only show
configured policies and none show up so i'm faily sure
its not down to the group policy setup.

Maybe a setting in the registry? i don't know.

Cheers.

You are right, I haven't tried it.That policy isn't
available in xp home just the two I mentioned previously.
