After inporting into outlook 2003 from outlook 2002 missing mail from inbox,
but folders and contents came across and unread mail went into folder, and
the contacts did not come across, when I tried to export from the 2002 the
program stops at the export option and nothing else happens
nothing i can find in help seems to apply

Exporting and importing are never the correct way to transfer Outlook data.
Explain in more detail what you did.
Reassure us that you back up your data.

Iam confused about your statement that inporting and exporting is not the
proper way to transfer outlook data. I have done it before, though not to
2003. Specificaly what I did was setup Outlook 2003 on a new computer and
then open file/inport from pst and brouse to the location where I had made a
copy of the 2002 outlook pst file and inported. What should I have done? When
I look for "help" and transfering data it just refers to inporting and
exporting, thanks for your input

The link was very helpfull, but even after complete removeing office and the
data file and then copying the old outlook 2002 pst file to the location
specified I still can not find any contacts nor are the opened emails in the
inbox, all the mail that had been stored in folders came across and the
unopened mail went into a folder called unopened mail. I suspected maybe a
problem with the 2002 pst file so I ran SCANPST on it and no problems found,
and there doesnt seem to be a PAB file that might contain the contacts.
Thanks for your input so far, I won't be able to check for replys for a
longer period for now, but any thing is helpful

If you open the PST file and it contains no Contacts nor Inbox messages, you
did not copy the correct PST file.

I am trying to import my contacts, Outlook is asking me to run set-up -
select add/remove features/ change teh feature to run from my computer or run
from cd???help

Quite likely that the import/export filters were not originally installed
and set to install on first run. If that's the case, you'll need your
install CD.

That said, if your contacts (that you want to import) are in a PST file -
no need to import, just open the PST where the contacts reside and
copy/move what you need to whatever folder you want them in.

You mean the pst file was missing or broken?I think you can try to fix your pst file.A third part repair tool called Advanced Outlook Repair may be helpful. You can download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe .
