Cannot find Backup program on System Tools or anywhere by 'Search'. Not sure
if it was ever here; did not knowingly delete it. Using WinXP Home on a 8
month old Dell 2400. What do you suggest?

Hi Bill

The Backup Utility isn't installed by default with XP Home. Depending on
what kind of XP CD you have, it may be in the valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder.

Do not use 'Backup'.. use a proprietary CD burning program to save important
files to a CDR/CDRW.. or save them to a second HDD if fitted..

By default this is not installed on XP Home. Go here where you you will be
informed how to pull from the XP CD or you can just download it:

There is a lot of of info here, just keep scrolling down until you find it.

Q

You are absolutely right, but Guinan assures me that Windows Backup will
select the A drive for backup if it does not detect a tape drive, hence
Backup is conspicuous by its absence in XP Home.. one can 'back up' (save or
archive) files to a CDR/CDRW or second partition and/or hardrive more
easily, subject to any of these being present in the computer.. it is not
necessary to use a specialised 'backup' program to save important files to a
safe medium, which was my point..
