missing Audio device

Can anyone pls. tell me how to install my audio device (or driver) . It says
somewhere that I've got no audio device installed plus the audio icon that
used to show on the taskbar is nowhere. I tried to run XP set up but it
always freezes when it's loading XP with 34 minutes left. Which i tried
several times without formatting to have time to save the files that I need.
pls, help....

Setup stops responding with 34 minutes remaining

Disable the sound card for starters. It may well be broken or not compatible
with XP though if you've had it working with XP before it might be just
plain broken.
