As with so many other people, my address bar vanished. As per the previous
recommendations in this and other discussion groups I have tried the
following:

1. Right Click on address bar verify "Address" is checked.
2. RC address bar uncheck "Lock Toolbar" check "Address"
check "Lock Toolbar". Still do not have an Address Bar.
3. "Unlock Toolbar" and mover vertical bar at left up,
down, sideways. Still no Address Bar.

Performed the registry edit as per http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842903
instructions.
I have also applied the following fixes to no avail
http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/notoolbaar.htm
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_toolbarfix.htm
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/lockedbars.htm
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

Regardless of what I try it will not reappear. I did note that unchecking
any of the "Toolbars" menu items only reappeared after closing and reopenning
IE

Though this is a "Dah" thought i'd mension it anyway... "this is also the
case in Windows Explorer".

Hi,
I haven't seen many "Missing address bar" posts except for this one (also
today)
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...oup:*microsoft*&rnum=1&hl=en#30dc8c0f339ea21b

Actually, I don't like my registry editing suggestion as much as I used to,
but it won't hurt to search for "NoAddressBar"

I'd suspect a third-party program, toolbar, add-on or BHO. If running XP
SP2, try IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable non-microsoft add-ons to see if
one of them is the culprit. If not running SP2, try BHODemon 2.0 from
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html

Have you recently installed a program (of any type) that might be hooking
into IE and causing this?

Searched for malware recently?

Hello Don,

Sorry about the delay. Well I have tried all suggested remedies and still
no luck.

I did install a program recently called SkyPE from http://www.skype.com cool
utility especially over dial-up.
Anyway, I do believe the issue preexisted this installation.
The only problamatic action I performed was attempting to uninstall Business
Contact Manager (different issue, for an other day) I don't really see that
being the culprit.
One question I do have is, do you know of a policy that governs this. I
have searched and searched via gpedit console and would sware i had seen and
possibly tweaked a policy that deals with the Address bar, can't seam to find
it now though. then again it could have been a bad dream ;

Thank you greatly in advance for your time and support,

Mbuswell

BTW, I forgot to mention after installing the QueroToolbar still no toolbar
of any kind.
Also, the settings don't stick... When I uncheck Address bar, etc. close
the app and reopen the Address bar is once again checked.
Is there a policy that governs this. I found the "Customize Toolbar" policy
but not one for the address bar.

Agian, greatest thanks for your help and patience

No this is a Dell Dimension 4550

Yes, there was no "NoAddressBar" in either the HKCU or HKLM

Oh wait...
I just noticed View\Toolbars\Quero was not checked. After checking it the
Quero menu item the Quero Address bar became visible. Still no IE address
though.
I run e-Trust and Spybouncer twice a day. My machine appears to be clean.
This does raise a concern...
What happened to it, and why can't I get it back?
Do you have better utilities than e-Trust and Spybouncer to suggest?
Do you think this could be mallicious?

Did you search the registry for the value "NoAddressBar?"
