I rebuilt my PC some months ago and re-installed XP, done all the updates to
SP3 etc., but now found that the accessories never installed. I try to
install them, but the process asks for trhe XP SP3 CD, which I don't have,
because the update was automatically installed; oh, and it seems to want a
specific file entitled "spider". I cannot download the SP3 file because
Download Manager is clever enough to know that it is already installed ! So,
how do I resolve this, because I cannot control volume, have no calculator,
etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Download the "network" install version of SP3 and then slipstream this
file, with your original XP CD, and create a newer XP install CD with
SP3 integrated into it.

Thanks for the advice, but I have no idea how to do what you suggest - can
you tell me please.

Thanks

Sorry, should have said the "slipstream" bit - I have already downloaded the
network SP3 file.

When your slipstream a service pack (such as SP3) you will be creating
a revised XP install CD that will contain all the changes that SP3
does to the Windows XP files. As mentioned by MarkR, you can install
nLite to help your to create this revised install CD.

I have not used nLite but I did your Autostreamer.

sm, thanks for this - worked a treat !
