missed activation

loaded XP Prof and think that I missed the date for activation. Not online
with it yet, and when I went to turn it on .... nothing! Monitor does not
come out of hiernation. how do I get XP back and I can continue the
activation process?

What happens when you power off the computer, count to 20, and then push
the power button?

Safe mode is started by pressing F8 during the 'black screen' just after the
BIOS screen. Hibernation does not function in safe mode, and expired
activation in safe mode will still allow you to go online and activate.

The inabilty to start you're describing has nothing to do with activation.
What exactly happens when you power on the PC? Do the drives spin up?
