I turned my computer on this morning to find my picture was missing from the
top of my start menu (next to the user name), also the font in my taskbar
appears to have changed and the colour of the top bar in open windows is now
grey not blue. Hope this makes sense. Any ideas?

Did someone change your display style from XP to classic?

Right click on the desktop.
Select Properties.
Click the Appearance tab.
Click the arrow by the Windows and Buttons dropdown.
Select Wnidows XP Style.
Click OK.

Rightclick open area center of screen and click Properties.
Click the Appearance tab. Set to Windows XP Style and
Color to Default Blue>Apply>OK
That should get you started in correcting some of the problems.

Hi Happy Chilli,

Welcome Screen must be enabled in order for the user account picture to
appear in the Start Menu.

1. Make sure that you're using Windows XP Start menu.
2. Make sure that the Welcome Screen is enabled - This also implies that the
user account picture won't work if the system is connected to a domain,
where the Welcome screen is automatically disabled.
