Donna

I have W2K Professional on my laptop. Recently I began
receiveing an error saying that "ieexplorer.exe has
generated errors and that the program will close will need
to be restarted. An error log is being created" (not word
for word). I rec'd and error tonight that
read "SYSTEM\currentControlSet\VirtualDevice Drivers VDD
Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid.
The last error that pops up constantly is that the virtual
memory is too low. What is a HID Class Driver (error 24)?

Thank you in advance for anyone who can help me with these
problems.

1.) You may need to reinstall IE or take a look at the last few things that
were installed that led up to the issue. But fix the others first.

2.) Virtual Device Driver Error Message in 16-Bit MS-DOS Subsystem
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q254/9/14.ASP

The article is pretty straight-forward. You'll need to use regedt32.exe.
regedit.exe cannot create Reg_Multi_Sz strings. You can backup your reg and
create the ERD by going to; Programs|Accessories|System Tools|Backup, then
choose ERD, then if you check the box for "Also backup....", then the reg
will also be backed up to
%windir%\repair\RegBack
leaving the
%windir%\repair\
directory files intact as original installation.

If you need to recreate the VirtualDeviceDrivers key; highlight the key (in
the left-hand pane), then Edit|Delete Then (in the left-hand pane) position
the cursor on the "Control" key, (so you'll be creating directly under
"Control") then Edit|Add Key, then for the "Key Name:"
VirtualDeviceDrivers
You can leave the "Class:" blank Then proceed with steps four through seven.

Make sure your doing this logged on as local administrator.

3.) Control Panel|System|Performance|Change
