I'm having problem with creating a mirrored volume in 2000 server. I
have 2 dynamic disks, disk 0 and disk 1. I tried to create a mirror
volume in disk 1 but the Mirror option is not enabled in the create
volume wizard, only the simple volume is enabled.
MORE DETAILS:
The motherboard had a Promise RAID controller which went bad. We
disabled it and moved the boot drive over to the primary Intel IDE
controller. Machine booted up fine. We installed a second identical
drive on the secondary channel, with only a disk signature. As
described above, in the create volume wizard, the mirror option is
grayed out. I am logged in as administrator and upon reading help it
also states that if the server is on a network (aren't most servers on
a network?), then the network policies may be preventing this
operation. The server is a PDC on the network and there are no other
servers... I would really like to be able to mirror the drives, even
though I understand the limitations of mirroring. We always have good
backups, but, a mirror may save several hour should a disaster occur.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
