Running a Win2k server SP4, RAID1 (mirror) I got a HD disk(0) crash. So in
order to repair, I broke the mirror set and expected to restart the system
with the fault tolerant disk(1) using a boot floppy targetting the rdisk(1)
in the boot.ini file but win2k wont start anyway. It always report an AD
error stating its missing files (error status 0xC000000f) while the system
shows the "preparing network connection" window.

I got this issue with several servers using RAID1. the same error msg shows
up and the systems wont start. What did I miss ?

TIA

I'm very curious how we are failing. Please try to boot on one of
these bad DCs, and press F8 while booting, and select "DS Repair Mode"
(DSRM). Then if you can get the m/c up this way, could you post
several things:

1) There will be an event in the Directory Service event log that
explains why we're not booting, try to find this error event and post
it.

2) Find the Active Directory Database (has ntds.dit in it) and Logs
directories (has edb*.log files), and give us the dir output of these
two directories (it may be just one dir, if DB and Logs are in the
same location). Oh yes, and please give us the name/drive of these
two dirs too.

3) run "esentutl /mh ntds.dit" from the database directory. Run
"esentutl /mk edb.chk" on the edb.chk file. NOTE: to others on alias,
please don't run esentutl unless instructed to by professionals.
Especially never run esentutl if you're used to running eseutil in
Exchange. Gillies, don't worry I'm a professional, and the above
commands are passive.

Also are these RAID1 disks actually seperate disks, or are they
different partitions on the same disk?

Thanks,
