Our computor came with a divided hard drive C & D .. can I unload & reload
Microsoft Works to the D drive & things will still work OK & where can I get
the download & would it be free as this came with the computer when bought so
wouldn't want to have to pay for it .. I am trying to free up C drive space
as it's very small ?? TY for your time :)

Hi,
You wont be able to download the version of works you have from MS, it was
supplied by the company you bought the computer from. You would need to buy
a copy and uninstall yours from the C: drive and then install the purchased
version onto the D: drive. Are you sure the computer didn't come with a
Works setup disk.
Have you ran through the disk cleanup utility to empty temp & temporary
internet files fro C:. Post the drive sizes and free space detail. Are you
saving large files in your "my computer" folders.??

You mean uninstall and reinstall? Yes. You can do that with any
program.

& where can I get
the download

You can't. There is no download. You have to install it from the
original media.

You should have gotten the CD for it with the computer. If you don't,
they may have given you another means of reinstalling. Contact your
computer manufacturer to find out how.

Hello .. TY for your reply, it helped alot & answered well .. it didn't
matter if it was the same program .. just as long as it worked & didn't want
to have to buy .. not sure how much longer we will be keeping this computer,
especially when microsoft stops support for XP which I hear will be soon as
08.. I have learned to keep alot of things cleaned & in D drive as much as
possible ..what really takes up space ( for those who have a puter like this
) is the System Restore which I have to really keep cleaned up ! Am not sure
about the works set up disk but will look .. I have the Recovery disks but
never used them .. might be there .. what I'd really like to do is undivide
the hard drive .. but am told that would take having to purchase Windows XP
os .. again, not something I want to do if we're not going to keep this
computer, using the Recovery Disks just divides the drives again.

Support for windows XP will continue well beyond 2008.
What stops in 2008 will be Microsoft will no longer sell Windows XP,
probably the middle of the year.
support inn the form of updates, security patches etc will continue
for a few more years..

There is no where to get the download.
You should have CD or DVD with Works 7.0 so you can reinstall.
Or you may have a hidden partition for restoration purposes.
Check your manual and/or contact the computer manufacturer for
details.

Thanks everyone .. you all have been alot of help :) So far I've been able to
move a few things just fine & find downloads .. the last one I'm not sure
about now is Microsoftworks 7.0 which from the looks of things I'm sure I
even need .. unless it's neccessary for the computor to operate, etc.

Thx to for the info about XP .. which is another way I was told to undivide
the hard drive was to run XP .. I can't use the recovery disks as they will
just divide the hard drive again .. I'd like to just undivide it altogether
... am not a " Geek " & didn't know it had this divided hard drive, guess it's
great for those in the know .. which isn't me .. LOL !!

This site, Answers has been a good experience & very helpful :)
