Miranda vs. Trillian Basic

Which is the better client for use with the ICQ and MSN networks?

Personally, I strongly prefer Miranda -- it's very light but because of its
plugin interface, _very_ expandable. Trillian is probably more new-user
friendly, though.

I've tried Miranda, GAIM, Trillian Basic and Exodus.

For me, Exodus is the best, as it's very stable and full featured.

GAIM is too buggy. Miranda is too basic. Trillian is OK, but not as nice as
Exodus.

Try them both, I prefer Trillian, but it's been a while since I looked
at Miranda.
I suspect the only differences are in the interfaces.

Regards,

Trillian doesn't seem to suport server-side contacts, and import from
Miranda is near impossible, also Miranda is much, much faster, and though
the standard interface is pretty ugly, there are some very nice iconn sets.
Be sure to install nConvers plugin to get support for smileys.

Yes, absolutely try them both. Miranda is not pretty. I like it for its
bare-bones simplicity -- it takes a minimalist approach. It stands as
little more than a plugin Interface -- making it as powerful or minimal as
you personal need it to be. There's a new built from the ground up version
in the works, but I don't know where it is in development.

Miranda too basic? You *do* know it has hundreds of plugins right? I
threw away trillian after discovering miranda: trillian takes ages to
load on my celeron. Miranda has more features and is lighter... nuff

I haven't tried it for at least a year, so it may have improved.

Strange that search for "exodus im" (sans quotation marks) turned up
nothing. URL?
