Minor Problem with Mouse Scrolling

I have noticed a minor but annoying problem when scrolling through Defender's
Options screen. If I click on one of the dropdown boxes, like "Scan
Frequency," "Time of Day," or "Type of Scan," then I cannot scroll the screen
with my house, even if I put the cursor in the "white" or "open" part of the
screen. Instead, when I try to scroll, the value in the drop down menu which
is highlighted is scrolled. I can scroll the screen if I do one of two
things: 1)Bring the cursor to the right hand "bar" and move it up and down or
2)check or uncheck any of the box options...then I can properly scroll again.

WD developers know about problems with srolling. More than that if you set up
bar to high-up & scroll-up you will be suprised.

Hi Richard,

same here, is a bug!
And the other about the icon is a XP Bug!

Thanks, Tom.

I kind of thought the icon problem is an XP bug. I think I saw it somewhere
else but just haven't had time to investigate it. It's weird, though....the
icon problem appears on my desktop (XP Home Edition) but not on my laptop (XP
Professional)...don't know if the OS makes any difference here, but that's
what I have!

If you have a really old UI version, the option to make the icon appear
always is not there in the UI.

If you do have that option, but it is disappearing, be sure that your
settings for "customize notifications" (right click on the notification
area) are not allowing it to hide.

If that is set to always show, and it doesn't, I agree with Tom
Emmelot--this is an XP bug. Don't have a fix.

Hi Richard,

For missing icon's,
From Francesco Saverio Ostuni:
Go to My Network Places and on the left pane and choose to hide UPnP
devices.

This will do the trick.

Hi, Tom.

Thanks for the tip. It seems to have fixed my problem. Before the fix, the
only icons appearing in the system tray area were for Zone Alarm and Norton
Anti-Virus. Now, I see the Volume icon, the QuickTime icon, and the Maxtor
external drive icon. Also, just to let you know, before the fix, once in a
great while, all of these icons did appear...I just don't know why or under
what conditions. So, I will watch this in the coming days to see if they all
reappear every single reboot.

Another question: I assume this is still an XP bug? The UPnP setting on my
laptop was the same as on my desktop, until I changed the desktop setting. I
do not have the problem on my laptop. Any idea why the laptop has not
exhibited the problem, with the same setting?

Also, I'm curious exactly what this is doing. When I change the option, I
get a note that not only will the icons appear or disappear, I get a message
stating that my fire wall will allow or close ports to these UPnP devices.

Lastly, don't want to be nosy, but I'm curious if you're from the
Netherlands? I saw one of your replies the other day that it was quite hot
for a "Dutchman"! I just ask because I used to live and work in Den Haag a
few years ago.

Thanks again, Richard

Windows XP home edtion has only one bug with scroll. This is reverse effect.
THIS IS THE BUG OF DEFAULT DRIVER FOR MOUSE. AND ONLY

Hi Richard,

i had the same problem a while ago and after Googling, i found this
trick from "Francesco Saverio Ostuni"
It worked for me, after a fresh XP home install i dont have the problem
anymore!
So there are more repair tricks for this bug, but nobody nows the reason
that makes it appear.
Yes i am Dutch, living in Amsterdam. ;)
