Danno

I hope you don't get too ticked off at me for asking how to fix such a minor
problem as this:

But only two years ago, I was on this newsgroup every month or so asking how
to save my computer from every problem imaginable including ...how to save
my new computer that I'd accidentally dropped out of an airplane...and the
solution was always here. I'm much less accident prone now!

But here's what I want to fix now. When I click on any link or url that is
included in a web-page, the site I want to visit opens in a new IE window
that is not maximized. I prefer to have them open max'd. How can I change
that?

Thanks for the always great support I get here. All of you rock!

Danno;
First, stay out of Airplanes. Or don't get on 'em with your computer. ;o)

Try this:
Click one of your links | Close all other open IE windows, except that one |
Use your mouse to drag the IE window to full size (not the Maximize button) |
Hold down the Ctrl key while clicking the Close [X].
Now open IE again. It remembers how it was last closed

You have to do this every once on a while, it seems.

Actually, this will work for most all program windows. There are a couple
of exceptions.

Thanks Wes!

That seems to have done the trick. A pretty simple fix to a nuisance
problem. I really appreciate it!

Have a great 2004,

Danno

Really happy for Danno that Wesley's fix works. Seems to me so sad that Danno had to ask the question in the first instance and that Wesley has to 'shrug' when he writes 'seems you need to do this once in a while in most apps'. Why?? Why does the app (ANY app) not remember it's last window size setting? Why??? Why does the size have to be maximised/maximized by dragging four corners to the extent of the screen? [Paraphrase: why does the maximise/maximize button not do the {ONLY!!!} job it has to do correctly]?

Why don't MS make products that work, completely, consistently correctly.

Ans: they don't need to as long as folks are happy enough to struggle with what they've got and guys like Wesley are here...

Cynic & engineer;
I think what happens is that we forget and close a window in a size/position
that we don't want it to open in. And then we have to 'fix' it again. :o)

If you're an Engineer, then you know that you have to work with what
you have.
