Minor glitch with taskbar shortcuts on XP

Hello. My desktop computer is running XP Home SP1. I have noticed a
minor, but peculiar glitch with dragging shortcuts to the taskbar area.

After I create the shortcut, (by right-clicking on a program and
selecting shortcut), I then drag and drop it into the taskbar, which I
unlock beforehand. This procedure works, but for some reason the shortcut
is listed twice. This doesn't happen on my older computer running
Millennium Edition. Any ideas how to fix this?

I have the same thing on this new Toshiba laptop. Next time you start
Windows there will only be one. If you delete one of the two the other will
go away too.
