Minolta / QMS magicolor 2350 postcript printing problem

Hello,

with certain Postscript files (expecially larger ones) I have
problem printing them on our new Minolta / QMS magicolor 2350 printer.
The printer seems to accept the job, shows 'processing...' on its
display, but than simply hangs (I tried waiting for several hours
just to be sure it really hangs). When I cancel the job on the
printer it does not accept jobs anymore until I hard reset the
machine (power off/on), Has anybody experienced a similar problem?
Any hints?
I use either Linux (debian 3.0 woody, lpd or cups) or Tru64 Unix (lpd).
My printcap enty looks like:
lp8|laser8|magicolor2350:\
:af=/var/spool/lpd/lp8/acct:\
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/lp8/log:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp8:\

Have you tried upgrading firmware on magicolor 2350 to latest by
downloading it from website and uploading it to printer using ftp?
You using latest postscript ppd(?)
You tried upgrading ram from standard 128MB to 384MB with cheap ram say
crucial.com?

Dear muks,

yes, I installed the latest firmware via ftp.
yes, I upgraded the printer from 128MB to 256MB.
I use the latest cups software (or just plain lpr, the behaviour is the
same.
I also tried to connect the printer directly via usb and parallel cable,
all works, but with the afore mentioned hanging symptoms now and then.
