Mininimizing Mail to system tray?

Is there a way to minimize mail to the system tray so that I can get it off
my taskbar without having to shut it down? Kind of hampers the usability of
an email program having to open it to check email instead of letting remain
open on the system tray.

you can use the little tool TrayIt.
