Hello all:

We have a small emergency and on Xmas eve, too. The PDC's boot drive
failed in the night, and the op found it sounding like it was walking
with a cane. So far no huge impacts, except there is no 'authority'
for maintenance. The other two drives (containing the OS and NTDS)
are stable as seen from the recovery concole, but we cant boot.

How can we (1) Make the other DC 'authoritative', and (2) Make the D:\
drive bootable?

Any immediate resps would be helpful.

Take a small hard disk from your box of retired disks, format
it on a Win2000/XP PC, mark its partition active, then copy
these hidden files from some Win2000/XP PC to its root
directory:
ntldr
ntdetect.com
boot.ini

Your machine should now boot as before.
