Been doing google searches all day trying to figure this out so I
finally decided I'd better go where I can truly get some help.

I have a compaq presario x1000 notebook that has the
Intel(R)Pro/Wireless 2100 3B mini pci card internally installed. I only
get 11 mbps on the 802.11b with this card and was wondering the following:

a. Can I replace it with an internal 2200 which gets 54 mbps on the
backward compatible 802.11g?

b. If so, where can I purchase it? I've done searches all over and all
I can find are the cards that stick out of the side. I really would
just like to change out the internal one if available.

Thanks ahead of time for your tolerance.

yes, so long as you're aware that the wifi infrastructure(s)
around you must support 11g too, else you'll still be in 11b
mode/speeds.

I'd try looking here (or here):

Thanks to both of you. Picked one up on Ebay yesterday. Now I just
have to wait for it to arrive and install it and hope it works. Again,
thanks.
