Don't just live life.
Live life well.
: I hardly ever record over another tape as I generally keep them as archive
: copies. For those tapes that I do reuse...
: I always record at least 15 seconds of black on each tape to begin with.
: I run the tape back to about 12 seconds and start to record from there.
: This keeps timecode continuous.
: When I come to reuse tape I record about 30 secs of black to remove the
: start of the old recording.
: Run tape back to about the 12 second mark and start recording.
:
: I do not black all the tape due to the extra wear and tear.
: When recording teh black also put in a dummy jack plug into the mic socket
: or if you have manual audio control turn the recording volume down to
zero,
: otherwise all though you have black tape you have audio on it.
: I also use a tape rewinder, fast forward and then rewind fully all tapes
: before use, you don't know how long they have been stored and this ensures
: it doesn't stick.
: After recording a tape it is also useful to ff to the end and rewind it
all
: the way back for storage.
: Do not leave tapes in the cam.
