I know this is trivial in the extreme but .....

I am about to do a clean install of XP on a new HDD. My son likes to
play minesweeper and he has the best scores so far. I assume these
scores are kept in a file somewhere on the system. I would like to copy
this file or folder and copy it back on the new disk so that my son
keeps his record scores. How do I do it?

Actually, it's kept in the registry under:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\winmine]

You can run Regedit, press Home, F3, type

winmine

...press Enter, press F3 and you'll see the names and entries in the r-h
column. Click File, Export, to save the entries. Double click the file
later to import the scores.
