Milo: Set the default on a shortcut to open FP instead of IE?

I'd like to make a folder of shortcuts to the index pages of seven websites I
maintain (since the "recent" list is only four).

The problem is that if I set the default on these shortcuts to be FrontPage,
it changes the default on ALL html files. I certainly don't want all html
files opening in FP; just websites I'm working on.

Is there any way to set the default on just a few specified items to be a
different application so I don't have to say "Open With" each time?

If this is a question I should have posted in Windows general questions
instead, let me know and I'll repost it there...was hard to decide.

You really don't want to do that. You want to always open FrontPage and then a web from
within FrontPage.

If you have all of your webs listed in My Network places, ( both disk based and server
based ) and then click File > Open Web ( Open site in FP 2003 ) all of your webs will be
listed and you can select the one to open.

I have all my sites in "my webs" under "my documents" and I do currently have
to follow the steps you suggest to open them.

But I'm not sure why the comment "You really don't want to do that."
If I could have the specific website open based on a shortcut named after
the site, it'd save a few steps. And I could put those shortcuts right on my
start folder.

Sure, I don't usually update the home page, but at least the whole web site
opens when I open that page. I can always always close that page and all my
page options would be open on the left.

Again, nothing wrong with your approach...mine would just be faster if it's
do-able.

You run the risk of only opening a page to edit and not the site and then a page.
The result being, links to files and images "can" wind up pointing to a file location,
resulting in broken links and / or links pointing to your hard drive after publishing.

There's a lot of stuff that goes on "behind the scenes" when the Open site is used to open
a web.

I can see why you'd think that, but my options are set up to bring up the
most recent website if I just open FP. This is how I like it because, if i'm
working on the same site continually for days (which is most typical), it's
nice to have it come right open.

So "open site" shows me all the files in the currently open site.

By contrast, if I right click on index file of the site I want to go to and
choose "Open With...FP", it opens the site I'm wanting to see now.
